Strawberry Corn Milk is a spin on corn milk, known in Vietnamese as sua bap, that has become a popular offering in trendy Korean cafes and boba shops.
In Los Angeles, corn milk is gaining traction as a sought-after beverage, with lots of local spots serving their own takes on corn milk lattes and boba milk teas.
Although we found a lack of information online about the world history and culture of this drink, we suspect that corn milk is not a new invention.
It’s possible that it is simply experiencing a moment of popularity in modern boba culture. If you have any info on this, please kindly share it in the comments!
Through our own experiences visiting cafes and pop-up food markets, as well as testing at home, we developed this recipe. Exploring our city, we’ve tried both great and not-so-great corn milks.
Ultimately, we landed on a favorite – the Strawberry Corn Milk at Bopomofo Cafe. The corn taste was prominent, with the milk and strawberry puree serving to uplift and complement the star of the show.
You’ll love this recipe for its easy-to-follow steps and corn-tastic results!
Plus, making this at home provides a healthier alternative to cafe-made boba drinks, as you can control the sugar and customize the recipe to your preferences.
Strawberry Corn Milk is juicy, creamy, and refreshing.
This drink owes its great taste to its ingredients.
Corn is naturally sweet and adds a rich, velvety texture to the drink when combined with milk. Strawberry lends its characteristic light sugariness and slight tartness to make the drink quite refreshing.
In addition to being tasty, strawberry corn milk has many health benefits. As this beverage is made from corn (a vegetable) and strawberry (a fruit), when it is combined with milk, the resulting drink is rich in vitamins and nutrients.
Both corn and strawberries are excellent sources of fiber which is essential for keeping your digestive system healthy (we love a happy tummy)!
Corn has lots of Vitamin A which your body uses for its skin, eyes, and immune system.
Strawberries are full of antioxidants which help protect your cells and also improve your heart health through supporting blood pressure regulation.
Also, milk has lots of protein and calcium, making it perfect for supporting bone and muscle health!
Finally, this Strawberry Corn Milk recipe relies more on the natural sweetness of the corn and strawberry instead of using tons of added sugar or highly processed additives.
While the sweetness level can be adjusted to your preference, we recommend giving this recipe a try first and letting those nature-made glucose molecules shine!
To make Strawberry Corn Milk, the process involves three basic steps: creating the corn concentrate, preparing the strawberry puree, and then assembling the final drink.
To make the corn concentrate, first boil the corn. Once it’s cooked, allow the corn to cool completely before proceeding.
For added efficiency, you can prepare the corn concentrate 1-2 days in advance of when you plan to serve the Strawberry Corn Milk.
You can customize your Strawberry Corn Milk in a variety of ways.
We want you to be able to adjust the recipe to your personal preferences – after all, it’s your homemade drink. Here are some suggestions to help you do that:
Store the corn concentrate and strawberry puree separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator.
The corn concentrate will keep for up to 2 days in the fridge.
The strawberry puree can also last for 2 days in the fridge, but its shelf life can be extended to 5 days by adding a small squeeze of lemon juice.

We served our strawberry corn milk in our reusable Love Potion bottles we had obtained from Gong Cha during Valentine’s season.
Milky, sweet, and brimming with corn flavor, it’s no surprise that Strawberry Corn Milk has become a trendy offering in boba shops. When in season, use fresh sweet corn for optimal flavor; alternatively, you can substitute canned sweet corn. This recipe draws inspiration from one of our favorite spots – Bopomofo Cafe.
